SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is is intended to verify whether an email message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will prevent the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes using the domain. When this record propagates globally, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time some e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests whether it comes from an official server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody can mask an email address then make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution provides you with the best standard of safety, but it is not applicable when only your site is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are handled in a different place. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function comes with all of the semi-dedicated plans, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you can activate this service effortlessly for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really intuitive interface, which means that you do not have to be tech-savvy to protected your email addresses. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an extra option, we also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only if the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain should be managed by us and not by a different supplier. By doing so you'll have even better control and there won't be a chance for someone to counterfeit your email addresses for harmful intentions.
